It is known recently that a restaurant is going to be open in your neightborhood. 

Do you oppose or support the plan? Give some reasons and details and support you answer.

Convenience is one of the most important things that we seek for in the neighborhood. Neighborhoods with more services such as hospital, school, and sport clubs are highly recommended for people. But there is one more thing that we seek for, something that support your necessities in life. Something that took care of your appetite and the food you need, a restaurant.

A new restaurant is going to be opened in my neighborhood. In my opinion, this is a good news. Just by seeing the plan of making the restaurant itself is making me delightful. Who would really oppose the plan of building a restaurant? When you can have all the world in your neighborhood once you do so. Only the people who are born querulous would do that. I'll admit that there is some negative side effects that might follow, but still, the benefits it offers outrun the cost. For me, I would actually support the plan for the time being.

Cooking at home is one thing, buying food at the restaurant is another. People who cooked food at home might oppose this plan because they feel it is not necessary for them. But actually, careful thoughts will show you that the restaurant offers more benefits. To cook at home you need lots of money to buy the materials and ingredients required.  Not only that, it would actually took some time before you could finish cooking. On the other hand, while buying food at the restaurant might cost you more money, it offers you more convenience. Not only that, they food they offer are far more delectable. If you think carefully, the cost of all the ingredients and materials needed to cook food at home might actually outrun the cost for paying at the restaurant. I believe people will somehow fathom to how nice it is to have a restaurant nearby.

Another sagacious reason to have a restaurant in your neighborhood is that they can actually promote your neighborhood. With the imminent opening of the restaurant, people will be more interested to come and try this new sensation. As a result, more people will come to join your neighborhood. As more and more people accumulated, there would be more demand of place, food, and supply, forcing the neighborhood to expand  to match the size of people, as well as improved the services even further. Having a restaurant in your neighborhood can actually make you famous.

Restaurant is one of the most needed things that people seek for. It offers more convenience, as well as a greater variety of food, instead of just taking time to cook food at home. With careful planning, buying food at the  restaurant can even help you cut cost. If the restaurant were to be opened in my neighborhood, I would be more than welcome to support the plan.

Hamlet Journal 1 for Act 1, scene 1-5

1. How does the play make you feel at this point? Record your emotional responses in a few sentences and then explore them for a few minutes, trying to figure out why you feel as you do.

Ans.  So far, I have read through act 1, scene 1 to scene 5 in hamlet. The play gave me and idea of how Shakespeare's writing is like. To  be honest, I have never read anything as difficult as this before. On the other hand, I also feel that Shakespeare's writing is interesting. The writing itself have a deeper meaning in it. I feel that Shakespeare's use of language and how he use symbols in each scene to relate to the story is really amazing.

2. In what situation have you felt similar to the characters? What person, places, or ideas from your own experience came to your mind while you were reading this portion of the play? Try to list at least three associations, but don't worry about trying to figure out why they came to mind. Just accept that they occur.

a. There is a time when I am so angry of my parents because they keep forcing me to do things which are unnecessary. Out of anger, we burst our shouting or doing something useless. After I read Hamlet, the part when he speaks to himself with anger, I was so deeply in to it. It remind me of how I use to be.

b. When Bernardo told Horatio that he saw a ghost, Horatio doesn't even believe at first. He later believe because he saw it himself. It remind of how I was when someone told me that they saw a ghost. First, I also don't believe it, until I saw it by my own two eyes.

c. I felt similar to Hamlet when Horatio told him that he saw a ghost that look like King Hamlet. Hamlet couldn't believe what Horatio see and must go to see  the ghost to prove it himself. It is just like me. When my friend told me he saw a ghost, all I wanted to do is to see it, to prove it for myself.

3. What portions of Shakespeare's language attracts your attention? These might be individual words, phrases, lines, scenes, or images. Make note of whatever features draw your attention. Speculate for a few minutes about what you think they might mean.

Ans. Shakespeare's use of language is indeed very impressive. I really like the part in scene 2 when Hamlet talks to himself. Normal people wouldn't include such a scene in the play. But Shakespeare really create lots of emotions and feelings to the watcher. He compares one thing with another to create image and give feelings to the watcher. Such as "Frankly, My name is woman." This is a very famous quote. By looking at it, there is no meaning. It take deeper understanding to interpret Shakespeare's writing, and this is exactly why it attracts lots of attention.

4. Make notes of any portion of the play, its language, or events that cause you problems. Note any questions that you might ask.

Ans. Shakespeare uses comparison and many other style of language to create emotions and feelings to the reader. It can attract the attention of reader, on the other hand, it is also very hard to understand. There is a part in scene 5 that Hamlet talks to the ghost. It is very hard to understand without a proper analysis. As you read there is will be many questions that arise such as "Why should Hamlet tell his friends to swear?" or "What are the symbols Shakespeare uses to give a foreshadow to reader?"

Spectator Sport - The Science Fair

The place is unequivocally big, crowded, and loud. There are booths everywhere you look, showing their specialty, with people looking with their two big eyes. People roamed around throughout the stadium like a buzzing bees, and the loudness cause by them make it impossible to hear each other’s voices.

The place is filled with small booths, arranged categorically like a chess board. Everyone was eyeing on what the booth is showing, some new interesting innovation due to science. There are gigantic models of scientific stuff everywhere, showing multifarious things unseen before.There I walked pass all these innovations and I feel surprised with my mouth and my two big eyes wide open. I felt for an instance that I was in an expert science fair, acting like a young scientist. I walked around and saw these extraordinary things I’ve never seen before – A free fall experience, space ball, etc. Above all of them is a fossil of our long lost friends, the dinosaurs. It is big, hard, and scary to begin with. There are children everywhere, digging the sand to find the fossil. On the left side, there were shops opening, which they sell exorbitant stuff to children. As I walked through the fair, my stomach began to roar. I walked down stair with all my friends, and I was wondering where to find food to satiate my hungry stomach. I sit down there quietly, filling myself with good stuffs and energy. 

Ready for more observations, I moved up back to the crowded fair up ahead. My legs began to feel weak, when I actually came to the best part. I saw many things on the other side of the hall, which I felt I should have come and see earlier. My mind vacillated between choosing to observe more or going back to the meeting point. With my leg feeling weak, and big arms feeling lazy, not able to write down anymore notes, I decide to walk back up there where I saw my teacher calling for me. She was telling me to go back to the meeting point. My heart was half-filled with happiness, and another half filled with the desire to observe more, after which it change to feeling of satisfaction. I was satisfied to have come here, and that is the feeling that holds me as the wheel of the car start rolling back, toward EIS.
